Steiff Presents the Wizarding World Collection of Fantastic Beasts.

9th Dec 2018

The arrival of a brand new series of films from the Harry Potter world also heralds a whole new host of weird and wonderful creatures from ‘Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them’. The films follow the adventures of Newt Scamander, an author and magizoologist, who features in the Harry Potter universe, and his menagerie of unusual and magical creatures.

The Steiff collection includes many favourites from this truly magical and exciting series including the Niffler, Demiguise and Bowtruckle. Each have their own personalities and magical characteristics which Steiff has captured in these fantastic plush renditions of the creatures.

The Niffler is a delightful addition to the Wizarding World and while briefly mentioned in the Harry Potter series, is really brought to life in the Fantastic Beasts films. This cute but naughty little critter looks like a cross between a mole and a platypus and has a penchant or bright and shiny things. The Steiff plush stands at 31cm, is of soft black plush and captures the Niffler’s likeness brilliantly. While the Wizarding World has been warned against keeping Nifflers as household pets, this plush version makes a wonderful addition to any household.

While the Niffler is known for its mischievous nature, the Demiguise is peaceful, caring and wise. These mystical creatures reportedly hale from Asia and are primate in appearance with long silky grey hair. Their magical capabilities include a psychic nature and the ability to become invisible. The Demiguise that features in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is known as Dougal. Steiff has created a very special and limited-edition (only 750 pieces) of the Demiguise that showcases its large, soulful black eyes and soft, silvery-grey plush fur. It’s primate-like hands and feet are moveable and its body is five-way jointed.

One of most heart-warming relationships in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is that between Newt and the Bowtruckle named Pickett. While Bowtruckles mostly live in wood and trees, Pickett has trouble fitting in with his Bowtruckle family and prefers Newt’s jacket pocket instead. Bowtruckles resemble a green-coloured stick insect and look rather like a walking piece of bark, which is perfect camouflage for the tree-dwelling creatures. Steiff has created the Bowtruckle in the finest of green wool felt and is a limited-edition of only 1,500 pieces. The plush collectable stands at 38cm tall and is an important part of the Steiff Wizarding World collection.

A huge amount of love has been put into these creations and Steiff has perfectly replicated these magical creatures in plush form. They showcase Steiffs long tradition of providing handmade and quality toys of the finest materials for collectors and fans alike. However, much of this collection is limited-edition so to avoid being disappointed, get in quick to secure your favourite magical creature.
